CONTENT OVERVIEW
Webinar 1: Building trust in the first 2 minutes. When you are short on time the first two minutes of the physician-patient encounter are the most crucial for establishing rapport and trust. In this webinar, we discuss how to build trust quickly including how to make a good first impression, techniques for not looking rushed, effective introductions and tips for connecting with patients to develop trusting, productive relationships.
Webinar 2: Dealing with the angry patient. Some patient behaviors are more difficult to manage than others, and the angry abusive patient is no exception – it can be intimidating and frightening for physicians. Often it is not clear what is truly driving the behavior and how best to defuse the situation. In this webinar, we provide insights into this difficult patient behavior and provide key strategies for transforming the interaction with an angry patient into a productive dialogue.
Webinar 3: Getting the information you need quickly. For a variety of reasons patients sometimes withhold information, but there is much a physician can do to create an environment that will facilitate faster and more complete disclosure of information. In this webinar, we cover key techniques to get patients talking so you can quickly uncover important information that will increase diagnostic accuracy and help you better understand patient concerns.
Webinar 4: Game plans for efficient patient encounters. Moving through the patient encounter in a way that is both effective and efficient is an every day challenge for physicians. Having a structured game plan for each encounter is essential for keeping your daily schedule on track. In this webinar, we cover effective strategies for setting patient expectations and structuring the encounter, and provide techniques to help you efficiently move from one phase of the encounter to the next.
Webinar 5: Minimizing "hand on the door knob" concerns. Most physicians have experienced the frustration of closing the encounter, standing to say goodbye, and having the patient say ‘Oh, by the way Doctor’. These ‘hand on the door knob’ concerns are particularly problematic for physicians short on time. In this webinar, we provide techniques for uncovering patient concerns early, for using patient feedback to structure the encounter, and for effectively managing a list of patient concerns that is too long.
Webinar 6: Using patient insights to deliver better care. Sometimes standard history taking questions are not enough, and as a physician you need to dig deep to uncover important insights that help you get the right diagnosis or propose a treatment plan the patient can manage. In this webinar, we discuss how to uncover the patient insights that will help you develop effective treatment plans, and provide questioning strategies that save you time.
Webinar 7: Empathy is your secret strategy. Empathy plays a leading role in every strong human relationship and today’s astute physician views empathy as a powerful time-saving tool – a secret strategy to boost productivity and efficiency. In this webinar, we discuss how physicians can identify empathic opportunities provided by patients and use these to purposefully and effectively direct the flow of the encounter.
Webinar 8: Helping the non-motivated patient find reasons to change. Motivating patients is not easy. Some patients fear change, some avoid it and others don’t even believe it is possible. Guiding a non-motivated patient towards a needed change is a challenge for physicians that begins with helping the patient find their own reasons for change. In this webinar, we discuss strategies for uncovering the patient’s personal reasons for change that can be used to increase their motivation.
Webinar 9: Explanations patients can understand and remember. Figuring out the right level of information for each patient, and then delivering it in a way that is meaningful and will be remembered is a constant challenge for physicians. In this webinar we cover the key components of an effective explanation and provide techniques for breaking down information and checking understanding. The webinar also includes practical suggestions to help your patients better recall instructions.
Webinar 10: Negotiating a plan that works. Every disease management plan needs to meet the physician’s medical requirements, but to be successful it also needs to be acceptable and realistic for the patient. Finding a common understanding and negotiating the details of the plan is critical for success. In this webinar, we discuss how to best manage a negotiation with a patient, overcome barriers and agree on a plan that works for both physician and patient.
